Well that was a great weekend in Seattle!
The Friday night at Fado's was quite the party. Saturday morning felt like London before a game and the atmosphere at the stadium was excellent.
We played well in the first half, showing some classy touches with two well worked goals. The second half was less impressive, with many changes and a second-string attack.
It was wonderful to see so many blue shirts in the crowd. I'd guess about 20% of the 65,000 crowd and our 100 or so Vancouver section made quite an impact too.
I think we were all very impressed with the set-up at the Sounders club, and with their fans. It felt "real" rather than the over-hyped "showbiz" stuff that the States has had for footy in the past. I think the Whitecaps have a great model in Seattle to learn from.
Who knows, one day we might see our beloved Blues in Vancouver again (yes, Chelsea did visit in the early 1990s).
Here are some photos, including Alistair Browne, my kids and yours' truly meeting the players on Saturday night. I am still coming-down after meeting Frank Lampard, John Terry and Ashley Cole. They took time to chat with us and made an effort for the kids to be photographed with them.
Thank you to all the Vancouver Chelsea fans who made the trip.

Vancouver Champions League
Liverpool 1 Chelsea 2
For Anfield 2009, read Kerrisdale 2009: the Chelsea supporters' side
recovered from falling behind to an early goal to beat their Mersey
counterparts 2-1 last Saturday. It means the Vancouver Blues will hold
the balance of power going into the second leg of this inaugural
Vancouver Champions League in July. Having created and missed some
glaring opportunities, the Scousers may feel a bit robbed by the
scoreline, but I'll let you insert your own joke here...
This was the best game to date between the two teams, with both
committed to playing neat elegant football, passing the ball out from
the back and providing compelling viewing. Initially, Chelsea took
control, with the two Davids setting the tempo in midfield and Andy and
Jose providing the threat from out wide. Yet the Reds drew first blood.
A through-ball from Adam, their dangerous playmaker, set one of their
forwards free who finished into the bottom right corner.

First of two-legged duel with Liverpool fans is on Saturday, May 23, kick-off 6pm.
Just a quick reminder: we’ve got a first match booked against the Liverpool lads: Saturday, May 23, kickoff 6pm at Point Grey secondary
turf field (where we played most games in 2008). To refresh your
memories: the junction of West 37th and Arbutus/West Boulevard.
If you haven’t already confirmed to play and want to, please do drop me a line to keep an eye on numbers at

At the moment we’re just below a team, but I know there’s a lot of
people out there who played last season I’ve not heard back from. The
more the merrier (and fitter!) and just think of the silverware. Or the
endless renditions of You'll Never Walk Alone we will endure if we lose.
